Find Baskerville Release Records

To find someone released from Baskerville Correctional Center, use Virginia's state corrections records rather than the regional jail roster. Baskerville is a state prison in Mecklenburg County, not the booking jail for local arrests. Leaving the institution may lead to final discharge, parole or post-release supervision, transfer, or another custodian under a detainer. The state locator can help while custody or supervision remains active. Release paperwork, the sentencing court, and the assigned supervision district provide stronger confirmation of the actual event and what followed it.

Baskerville Release Outcomes

Baskerville Correctional Center is a Virginia Department of Corrections institution at 4150 Hayes Mill Road. It is part of the state prison system. It does not serve as Mecklenburg County's local adult booking jail, and MRRJ Current Offenders is not the proper locator for its sentenced state population. This distinction changes both the search and the record custodian.

A person may leave Baskerville after satisfying a state term, on parole, or into post-release supervision. Departure can also be a transfer to another institution, hospital placement, or delivery to another custodian because of a detainer. A detainer is a legal hold or request that directs custody elsewhere. The fact that Baskerville custody ended does not by itself prove a return to the community.

Search Baskerville Release Status

The VADOC Inmate and Supervisee Locator is the correct first public search. It covers people in VADOC institutions and people on active probation or parole through district offices. It is updated daily, but VADOC warns that information may be inaccurate or out of date. Record the search date and copy each displayed label exactly.

Search by the seven-digit DOC ID when possible. The alternative requires the first three letters of the first name and the full last name. Optional filters include location, race, gender, and age range. The search requires acceptance of a disclaimer and a verification step. A result that changes from Baskerville to a probation or parole district can support movement into community supervision, but it does not alone establish the exact prison-door timestamp.

  1. Open the official VADOC locator and accept its disclaimer.
  2. Enter the seven-digit DOC ID, or use the required name fields.
  3. Use optional filters only to separate similar identities.
  4. Read the status, location, supervision, and date fields exactly as displayed.
  5. Confirm the event with release papers and the receiving district or agency.
Important: No VADOC locator match can be consistent with final discharge, but absence alone does not prove discharge.

The Mecklenburg County custody-chain search explains when to move between local, state, court, federal, and immigration sources. Baskerville cases should remain on the VADOC path unless an actual record names another custodian.

Baskerville Release Papers

VADOC's facility-release policy identifies the documents issued when a state prisoner leaves. A person who satisfies the sentence is discharged or leaves on parole and receives a notification-of-release letter. The person signs an Order of Release. Conditions of Probation or Conditions of Parole are also signed when they apply. Those papers distinguish final discharge from supervised release more clearly than a forward-looking date.

A Parole Board “Grant” is preparatory evidence. It means the Board voted to authorize parole through its process. It does not prove that prerelease requirements were completed or that the person physically departed on the decision date. Compare the Board result with the VADOC locator, release letter, signed conditions, and District 8 assignment. If a detainer applies, the receiving agency's record completes the proof.

Parole
Conditional release from a prison term for a person who is legally eligible.
Probation
Court-ordered supervision that can be imposed without a prison release.
Post-release supervision
A supervision term that follows incarceration.
Discharge
Completion of the state sentence or supervision term.

Note: A future date in a locator profile remains subject to computation changes and does not prove the actual release event.

Baskerville Release Day Logistics

State-specific logistics may be used for Baskerville because it is a VADOC institution. VADOC says release occurs by 11:59 p.m. on the release date, weather permitting. The person signs release and supervision papers, receives personal property and available account funds, and may receive transportation arrangements. Detainers affect the outcome. These rules belong to the VADOC facility-release process and should not be applied to the MRRJ regional jail.

The state deadline is not a promised pickup time. Processing, transport arrangements, weather, documents, supervision plans, and another hold can shape the actual departure. Confirm practical arrangements with the institution and the person involved. Do not infer a gate, waiting point, route, or exact hour that VADOC has not published for Baskerville.

Section 53.1-28 also permits the VADOC Director, for prerelease scheduling, to discharge a prisoner within 30 days before the term would otherwise expire and requires specified documents at discharge. That authority does not create a do-it-yourself date calculation. The VADOC computation and actual release record control.

Baskerville Release Records Contact

Operational questions should begin with Baskerville through the official VADOC facilities directory. General records guidance can go to VADOC. Public access to a broad offender file is limited because Virginia law permits VADOC to withhold imprisonment and supervision records. The locator, court record, release papers held by the person, or an authorized route is often more useful than a general demand for the whole file.

Baskerville Correctional Center release and VADOC District 8 directory
VADOC's directory keeps the state institution and South Boston District 8 in the same corrections system.

The directory view supports the correct handoff from Baskerville custody to state community supervision without involving MRRJ.

Provide the full name and DOC ID when available. Ask for the proper source for an existing release or discharge record, and identify Baskerville plus the approximate dates. The sentencing court can supply the signed order, but a sentence alone may omit credits, amended terms, and computation changes.

Baskerville Release to District 8

A released Baskerville prisoner returning to Mecklenburg may be supervised by VADOC South Boston Probation and Parole District 8. There is no Mecklenburg-named VADOC supervision office. District 8 serves Mecklenburg, Halifax, Lunenburg, and the Town of South Boston from 2510 Houghton Avenue, South Boston, Virginia 24592. Its published phone is 434-575-5774.

A locator result assigned to District 8 supports active community supervision. It does not supply the exact release timestamp unless the profile or papers also show it. Probation may have been imposed without prison, while parole is tied to conditional prison release. Read the supervision type. Successful completion can later remove the person from the locator, making release papers and the sentencing court more important.

Eligible victims receive state-prison event notices through VADOC's NAAVI system. Virginia Jail VINE serves local and regional jail custody and is not the substitute for Baskerville notifications. NAAVI may provide anticipated and actual release notices, transfer information, and parole events for eligible enrollees. The two systems require separate attention when a person moves between local and state custody.

Note: A District 8 assignment corroborates supervision after release, not the precise time a person left Baskerville.

Baskerville Release History Context

Baskerville's place in Mecklenburg County creates a common search mistake. Physical location within the county does not turn a state prison into the county jail. Local arrests and short local commitments generally run through MRRJ, while Baskerville holds people under VADOC authority. The agency named on the record should decide the path.

Facility names also overlap with local history. Mecklenburg Correctional Center, a former VADOC maximum-security prison near Boydton, closed in March 2012. The MRRJ Boydton satellite opened in 2013 but has been temporarily closed since January 6, 2021. Baskerville is the current state institution among those names. Status labels prevent an old article, address, or confinement record from being mistaken for a current custody location.

For an older Baskerville event, preserve the exact facility name, DOC ID, sentence court, and event date. The locator is strongest for active custody or supervision and does not promise a permanent archive. A former prisoner's no-result should be stated as a dated negative search, not turned into a claim that incarceration never happened or that every obligation ended.

Verify Baskerville Release Dates

Virginia divides time computation between local authorities and VADOC based on the sentence. For state-responsible terms, VADOC applies the governing Good Conduct Allowance or Earned Sentence Credit framework, jail credit, concurrent or consecutive terms, amended orders, offense classifications, disciplinary changes, and detainers. That is why a court sentence should not be converted into a release date with simple arithmetic.

A forward-looking locator date can change. Preserve its literal label, since the public search page does not promise a specific phrase such as “projected” or “tentative.” Compare it with the VADOC time-computation explanation. After the event, the notification-of-release letter, Order of Release, conditions, and current supervision location are better proof.

When sources conflict, state the conflict. Do not silently choose the earliest date or assume a Parole Board vote equals physical departure. The strongest conclusion names the VADOC event, date, and next status without extending beyond the records.
